Press Room

Welcome to the press room! Here’s where you’ll find news-worthy info about askHRgreen.org. Please take a look at the different reports, news releases and newsletters, and if you need anything more, we’re happy to talk.

Who is askHRgreen.org?

We’re glad you asked! AskHRgreen.org is a public awareness program of the Hampton Roads Planning District Commission (HRPDC), which encourages environmental stewardship among all residents in the 17 cities and counties here in southeastern Virginia. Work on the initiative began in July 2010 as the askHRgreen.org Executive Committee started to consolidate individual programs begun by HRPDC’s HR CLEAN, HR FOG, HR STORM and HR WET committees into one comprehensive, regional awareness campaign. The idea was to develop a central, go-to resource for everything green in Hampton Roads—from earth-friendly landscaping ideas and pointers for keeping local waterways “debris-free” to recycling tips and simple steps to make local living easy on the environment.

The result is askHRgreen.org, launched in June 2011. We hope the site is helpful and that you make us your favorite, like us on Facebook, tweet us on Twitter and tune into our blog, written by environmental experts here in the region. But perhaps, more important, we hope you are inspired to start your own little green movement whether it’s at home, in your yard, at work, in the classroom or around your neighborhood.
